Guide prices for the Netherlands in 2026, collected on 15 August 2026. The hourly and job prices exclude VAT; Homedeal states this explicitly for the hourly rate. The boiler replacement price includes VAT and installation, because that is how the source quotes it. Plumbing work carries 21% VAT.

Hourly rate

€45 - €85per hour

Call-out charge

€20 - €40

depending on the distance to the plumber

What makes up the price?

Labour

roughly 70% of the bill

Materials

roughly 15%, think of a tap, trap or piece of pipe

Call-out charge

roughly 15%, usually €20 to €40 per visit

This falls under the standard VAT rate of 21%, on both labour and materials. The reduced rate of 9% only applies to painting, plastering, wallpapering and the insulation of floors, walls and roofs in a home older than 2 years, plus cleaning work inside the home. If that kind of work is part of the same job, only that part is charged at 9%. The Dutch tax authority publishes the conditions that apply.

What determines the price?

  • Nature of the problem: a blockage is usually cheaper than a leak or replacement
  • Accessibility of the pipe, for example under a floor or in a wall
  • Emergency work outside office hours: €100 to €125 per hour applies quickly
  • Age of the pipes and installation
  • Choice of materials, for example the brand of tap or type of boiler
  • Distance to the plumber, which determines the travel costs
  • Certification: a plumber with an InstallQ accreditation works to a set quality standard, which is worth asking about especially for a boiler or larger pipe job
